IS AWARDED THE NATIONAL AWARD
FOR THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF
PROCUREMENT TRANSACTIONS IN 2009
Los Angeles and Riverside, CA. -. CHARO President & CEO, Cynthia Amador is pleased to announce that on June 8, 2010, the U.S. Department of Commerce, Minority Business Development Agency awarded the Inland Empire Minority Business Enterprise Center (MBEC), operated by CHARO Community Development Corporation, the Top National Award for Procurement Transactions. The Inland Empire MBEC placed #1 out of 39 Minority Business Enterprise Centers across the nation. The Inland Empire MBEC had 92 procurement transactions at a value of over $18mm. "This included providing one-on-one technical assistance, financial assistance, business plan review and procurement matching to minority owned firms in Southern California. The Inland Empire successfully assisted over thirty (30) minority owned firms secure MBE/WBE/DBE/SB certification. Culminating in the creation of over 100 new jobs for California," reported Amador.
To better create jobs in California, CHARO launched Supplier Diversity Seminars throughout Southern California. The Seminars are designed to create access to procurement opportunities, capital, and the creation of new jobs in our local economy.
